1.1.5 I make frequent backups of information or content I care for, by making a copy and storing it separately either in the cloud or on an external storage device

Using backups
Even if a device gets stolen or data gets corrupted by some malware that does not mean that the user lost all data from the device. Backing up device data is one way to do something about it and be sure that device data will not be compromised. In that way, the device user will be relieved to know that his data is safe, elsewhere. Regular backups are the best way not to lose device data.

Malware can damage or destroy files, with that in mind device users should consider backing up important data on external memory such as USB memory or  DVD disc. Cloud base services can be chosen to backup data, but device users should not keep sensitive data and files on cloud base backup because even cloud systems can be compromised.

Creating a backup of important files can be done by just simply copying them on an external drive.

Step 1 – Right-click and copy

Step 2 – Paste chosen files or folders on external drive

Another way to save files is on a cloud-based system like Google Drive, One Drive, iCloud

Steps to backup files on Google drive

Step 1 - On your computer, go to drive.google.com and sign in with your account.

Step2 - At the top left, click New and then  File Upload or Folder Upload.

Step 3 -  Choose the file or folder you want to upload.

Practical exercise:
please try to make frequent backups of information or content you care for, by making a copy and storing it separately either in the cloud or on an external storage device. You will be asked about it during the assessment later at the end of this module.
