Concepts and Application of Information Literacy and Digital Information Literacy

Media and Information Literacy (MIL) is emphasizing its importance in today's digital world. MIL involves understanding how information and media is created, shared, and consumed, both online and offline. It advocates for individuals to have the ability to access information, express themselves, and critically evaluate the content they encounter. MIL skills help people make informed decisions to navigate the vast amount of information available, ultimately empowering them to engage responsibly with media and information.

The key objectives of this section are to:

Give support to improve evaluating skills on published information and act accordingly: Enabling adults to recognise fake news and misleading content, promoting critical thinking and their ability to make informed decisions.

Enable a systematic approach to digital literacy: offering a solid foundation of knowledge and skills in media literacy, providing tools to meet the challenges in an increasingly digital and complex world.

These objectives are crucial for building a future where information and the ability to critically evaluate media will play a crucial role in active participation within society and the safeguarding of democratic values.
